Today (9th August 2017) South Africa celebrates National Women’s Day, shining a light on all the strong and courageous females, both past and present, who have fought for freedom and equal rights in this country.

To commemorate this in my own way, I thought it would be lovely to write about three female web designer entrepreneurs who inspire me. These are the women I look up to. Their designs influence my work. They are passionate, professional and creative. They all seem like friendly, down-to-earth people who I’d love to have a cup of tea with.

All of them create websites with beautiful, editorial-inspired layouts. Clean, elegant, minimalist and stunning.

1. Melissa Love, The Design Space

Melissa Love is a UK-based web designer. She designs websites for photographers and also sells website templates and themes aimed at photographers who want to be completely in charge of their own designs. Her company is called The Design Space.

She has created a vibrant and friendly community around her brand. Her blog and Facebook group (The Design Space Lounge) are excellent and helpful resources for all creative entrepreneurs wanting to grow their businesses and websites.

I just love the elegant and clean layout of The Design Space’s Flora theme (pictured above). Flora is a Divi child theme created for WordPress.  View the demo here.
2. Nicola Tweed – WordPress web designer & developer

Nicola Tweed (based in South Africa) designs and develops gorgeous WordPress websites and helps entrepreneurs and small businesses design their own websites via The WordPress Workspace.

The WordPress Workspace is a comprehensive online resource filled with step-by-step guides helping people to get online. Plus it’s free – how awesome is that. There’s also loads of information aimed at helping entrepreneurs and small businesses drive more traffic to their websites, and generate more leads and sales.

Websites from Nicola Tweed that I love: Ruby and Swallow, Lauren Setterberg Photography and Katie Mayhew Photography.

3. Meg Long Creative

Los Angeles-based graphic and website designer Meg Long is seriously talented. Her branding and website designs are absolutely gorgeous and oozing with personality. She also comes across as such a friendly, warm-hearted, colourful, fun person.

End Note: Since launching Ruby Studio last year, I have discovered a wonderful online community of female entrepreneurs. Supportive, inspiring women who are helping each other to grow on a personal and professional level. It is great to be part of this. Happy National Women’s Day to all the amazing, strong, courageous women.
